Drip caps for wooden windows are used, inter alia, to protect the window against the ingress of water into it. Due to their varied colours, these elements also affect the aesthetics of the joinery. Accessories from the MS Windows and Doors range come in numerous colour variants, so you can adjust them to the appearance of the construction.
Drip caps for wooden windows – what is their function?
Among the most important functions of the drip caps in wooden windows are:
- discharge of rainwater from the plane of the window;
- protection against water ingress into the window structure and into the room;
- protection of the coating against UV rays in places where it is most exposed to adverse weather conditions;
- protection of the window against cracking and flaking of the coating;
- ensuring the pressure equalization between the frame and the sash;
- sealing the contact between wood and aluminium drip caps against water running down the window plane, as well as preventing it from penetrating the surface of a profile made of wood, which is sensitive to water. This function is carried out by the gasket.
In addition to standard aluminium drip caps, MS Windows and Doors offers options with a wooden sash drip cap (applies to SLIM windows and product lines Classic, Modern, Art and Old), as well as with a wooden cover for the aluminium drip. The following graphic shows the options and standard colour versions of the drip caps. On individual request, the drip cap can be made in a shade chosen by the customer.
Additional drip cap – optional solution
MS Windows and Doors offer also includes optional drip caps for wooden windows. An additional aluminium drip cap is mounted on the glazing rim. It protects the coating from UV rays in places where adverse weather conditions affect it the most. In addition, this element protects the windows from cracking and flaking of the coating. Its use allows to maintain the impeccable appearance of the joinery for a long time. In the graphic below there are standard colour versions of additional drip caps in the windows from the offer of MS Windows and Doors. At individual request, the drip cap can be made in the colour chosen by the customer.
